Tour Details
Day One - Arrival and Sightseeing in Thimpu. Our friendly staff will greet you upon arrival at Paro Airport (7,000ft) and will introduce you to Bhutan by visiting the National Museum housed in an ancient watchtower. The museum has a has a fine collection of ancient Thangka paintings, textiles, weapons and artefacts. Later drive you through the Paro Valley to Thimphu the capital city. Upon arrival in Thimpu we will check in tot he hotel and have some time to refresh. In the afternoon we will visit the Chorten memorial built in memory of Lt. His Majesty the King by Royal Queen Mother. At the end of the afternoon we will visit Buddha view point.
Day Two - Sightseeing Thimpu and SurroundingsWe will kick of the day by visiting the spectacular Dochula Pass. The Dochula Pass is Bhutan's most famous pass and located just 30 kilometres from it's capital Thimpu. The pass is located at an altitude of 3100 metres and offers great views on the Himalaya's on a clear day. The Druk Wangyal Chortens-108 stupa's also add up the the attractiveness of this pass.From Dochula on we drive back to Thimpu and visit Changangkha Lhakhang, a fortress like monastery with an excellent view from the courtyard. If it is of your interest we will visit the nearby mini-zoo and have a look at the National Animal, Lankin.After lunch we will drive up tot he view point to have a magnificent look over the Thimpu Valley. Depending on the day of the week we will either continue our tour with a visit the Weekend Market or the Tashichodzong, the parliament house of the country.
Day Three - Sightseeing Taktsang, Drukgyul Dzong and Kyichu LhakhangIn the early morning you will be woken up and transferred to Paro. Here you have the choice of hiking up to the famous Taktsang monastery (Tiger's Nest) or just to go upto the viewpoint. This monastery is one of the most famous and sacred monasteries in Bhutan and was built back in 1692. After visiting the monastery we will continue to Drukgyul Dzong. This is an old fortress that was built in the 17th century to commemorate the victory over a Tibetan Invasion. Nowadays not much more than ruins are left from this once mighty fortress. Our last stop of today is the Kyichu Lhakhang. This important Bhuddist Temple is said to be one of Bhutan's oldest temples, dating back to the 7th century.
Day Four - Departure and Flight back to Kathmandu.
Morning transfer to Airport for flight to onward destination.
